PPC involves using paid advertising networks to display your advert to targeted visitors. The benefit of this method is the speed and ease in which you can gain high levels of exposure and generate a large number of leads. This is also a highly targeted form of advertising, as it is only shown to customers who are already actively searching for your product.

For example, a search for “Video Phone VoIP” creates the following results:

The PPC adverts appear in the lilac box at the top, and in the “Sponsored links” right hand side column. As you can see, these are prime positions on the search results, and are likely to lead to fast success. These qualified prospects are more likely to be accepting of your sales message as they are already looking for your product. This can also be targeted towards a designated area, so if for example, you only want to communicate to the people of Arizona, then your advert will only appear in Arizona. It is vital that you choose the correct keywords in order to target the correct audience. As I’ve said before: there is no point in trying to sell your product to the wrong people.

The only downside of this is that it does cost money, but as they say: you’ve got to spend money to make money! But, as the term would suggest, you only pay when people click on your ad. This can be controlled to a set budget, meaning it is virtually impossible to overspend.

It is vital to try and get your website to have the number one spot on search engine results, or at least in the top 10. A very small percentage of internet users will click on to the second page of results, and so if you want your message to be seen, you need to get optimizing. The problem with SEO is the time and expertise it takes to fully optimize your page. However, it is proven to be successful and if you manage to perfect the skills, it can lead to fast success.

For me personally, social media is the most effective internet tool for fast success, establishing a good reputation and for building long term relationships.

Social media, or Web 2.0,  is an interactive platform for you to build your website on and allows you to strike up a conversation with your customers. Web 1.0 websites typically deliver a message to the consumer, similar to a newspaper advert, and the viewer simply reads the sales message. Social media enables the business to have a two-way dialogue with the customer, and build a strong relationship.

For example, instead of telling your customers about how great ACN is, you are able to have a conversation about ACN products. Your customers are able to leave comments, play with widgets and interact with you and your business. The benefit of this is that customers are involved and have first hand experience with you and your business. By enhancing the brand experience, consumers are more likely to remember your business, revisit and recommend it to friends.

There are many different social media tools you can use to achieve fast success (social networks, media hosting and sharing, wikis), but I believe that blogs are the most effective.
