Herbalife-Sponsored LA Galaxy Win Again, And Herbalife Man Claims Top Award!

Following on from our report about how Herbalife are Powering The LA Galaxy To Glory, we can today confirm that the Galaxy’s amazing success is continuing!  On Sunday 7th November 2010 Galaxy defeated Seattle Sounders 2-1 at the Home Depot Arena, to complete a 3-1 aggregate victory in the Western Conference Play-Off semi-final.  Galaxy now have the chance to win the Western Conference for the second year in a row, if they can defeat FC Dallas.  Galaxy beat Dallas in the regular season only 3 weeks previously, and so stand a very good chance.

David Beckham was the star of the show, as he set up both of LA Galaxy’s goals in their victory over Seattle.  The first goal came from a header by Edson Buddle, after David Beckham had found him with a pin-point cross from a corner kick.  The second goal also came from a head-play following a Beckham cross, this time defender Omar Gonzalez finding the net.  Gonzalez is sponsored by Herbalife, and proved his worth to the team with a fine goal.  Goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts is also personally sponsored by Herbalife, and he celebrated being named MLS Goalkeeper of the year with another fine display, making a number of top class saves.  He was eventually beaten in the closing minutes by a powerful strike as Seattle mounted a late comeback, but the Galaxy held on to secure the win and progress to the Championship match.

Herbalife Man Scoops Top Award

Herbalife-sponsored player Donovan Ricketts was awarded the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Award for 2010.  Ricketts was nominated last year but was beaten to the accolade, but this year he was deemed to be the best goalkeeper in the Major Soccer League.  The award is a great boost for the talented Jamaican, and a proud day for the LA Galaxy and for Herbalife.
